Week One From the Sights of a Musket

By Musket Man

.
If BCS teams are ‘The Establishment’, does that make non-BCS teams ‘The Proletariat’? I think I like that, too. Well folks, it sounds like we got us a good ole fashioned uprising. The Proletariat defeated the Establishment many times over the weekend in significant theaters. Not just one, not two, but three non-BCS teams defeated teams that were favored to win their BCS conference. Utah beat Pitt, TCU beat Oregon State, and of course Boise State over Virginia Tech. Utah State nearly upended Oklahoma for what was nearly the fourth, and Florida had some scary moments with Miami OH for a possible fifth. Put that in you water bong, smoke it, hold five seconds, then exhale.

The Voice Top Ten

By divided_house

With all the polls coming out and college football fans dissecting and discussing them, I’m sure that everyone in the College Football World has been waiting with bated breath for the opinion from The Voice. Well, here’s what we think. Alabama is sitting on the top of our voter’s list with 9 first place votes – not bad out of 10 Voice Contributors. The only other team receiving a first place vote was Boise State. I don’t quite know what to say about that but then I don’t really have room to talk since I was the only voter with Virginia Tech still in my top ten. Any way, here’s the Voice Top Ten and as always we have included their upcoming opponent for the week.

THE SEC WEEK II: THE HOUSTON NUTT MEMORIAL EDITION

By creekdweller

I don’t know how to describe the SEC’s performance last week. Two words come to mind – interesting and suck. Vandy came close; Georgia, Bama, and R-Kansas did about what they were supposed to. So did Auburn, if you didn’t expect defense. Jeeze, 26 points? Cam Newton was really good though. No spectators were hit by footballs and he didn’t get lost on his way to the line of scrimmage. KY is looking to learn the art of knocking them out, not down and the good folks on Rocky Top are happier than a Vol cheerleader at an all you can eat fatback emporium. Some though, distinguished themselves with ultra high levels of toxic suck. Stand away from them, mashed potato backbone can be contagious.

OMB’s DOWN HOME COOKIN’

By oldmanbuckeye

Lightly grease a 100 yard football field with Rich Rodriguez and team (make sure to keep Rich Rodriguez along the sides). Generously heap in Denard Robinson (to taste). Sprinkle in yards passing and rushing, This will add a savory flavor of winning. Knead in firm defense for a strong, but not overpowering, delectable sensation to the palates of Michigan football fans. Bake during the Big 10 season until well done. At conclusion of Big 10 season, chill and let stand in the “Big House“until January. Remove from the “Big House“and place in bowl (Size to be determined).

College Football Top Ten

By divided_house

Last year we had a series of articles about who we thought were the top ten teams in college football. It seemed to go over well and I had good intentions of getting this particular article up last Monday. Where did Monday go? Anyway, here’s the top ten as voted on by the Voice contribution staff.

The Freshest 15 for the 2010 Season: #9 and #8

By Musket Man

#15: Florida State #14: Florida #13: Ohio State #12: West Virginia #11: Houston #10: Arkansas #9: Wisconsin – He is studious, that Brett Bielema. Any deficiencies he may own when it comes to developing talent and calling football plays, he masks with his relentless scouring of the NCAA rulebook. At breakfast, at dinner, at the [...]

Creek vs. Musket – Return of the Gamblin’ Men in 2010

By Musket Man

Creek 0-0: This is coming in the nick of time. The lizards are starting to gnaw at my brain. One more week without college football and I might be last seen taking a stolen Chevy off of Mt. Le Conte into the blue Tennessee sky, totally naked and with Jerry Lee blaring at full blast [...]

Putting Things In Order

By divided_house

In the spirit of getting ready for college football season this week, the staff and contributors of The College Football Voice have taken on the most impressive task of ranking every conference from ACC to WAC. Let me tell you, this was not an easy undertaking – with no immediate information from a couple of conferences I actually had to pull out the old dart board to provide magic insight where no specialized information was available. Of course these rankings are only our opinions, if you have another opinion, please share it with us.
